Kwetchi Intelligence
An independent research & data house

Our Thesis.

Top independent research organizations maximize their impact by choosing and mastering the decade’s defining issue. Ours is the Great Reallocation, a fundamental shift in who finances Africa’s development. Following a historic collapse in official development assistance, Kwetchi Intelligence bridges the critical tracking gap through a living, source-verified ledger of capital flows, from traditional aid and philanthropy to diaspora capital and growing AI investments. By systematically documenting this transition, we provide the empirical foundation needed to imagine, explore, and build disruptive financial and institutional mechanisms that enable African economies and societies to capture and own a meaningful share of alternative-created wealth, chief among them, the AI-generated value.

Research turned

Ezekiel Takam
Founder & Researcher

Kwetchi Intelligence is the operational continuation of nearly a decade of interdisciplinary research, public speaking and advocacy on how societies count, fund and remember themselves. That journey has taken its founder, Ezekiel Takam, from fieldwork across the African continent to research journeys in Paris, Geneva, Cambridge, Harvard, and beyond: from African universities and policy forums to the international institutions where development finance is governed. The same question ran through every stop: who gets to be seen, counted, and remembered by those who allocate? Kwetchi Intelligence is the answer built as a discipline: an independent research house keeping the continuous, verifiable map of the flows that finance Africa's development, for the peoples whose realities have too long been scattered, invisible, or narrated by others, and who must own the wealth now created in their name, chief among it the value of artificial intelligence. It is the embodiment of a personal conviction and engagement; research turned into infrastructure.

The African Data Fund.

Africa enters the AI era with a structural data deficit: 1.4 billion people, over 2,000 languages, and about 42 of them supported by today's systems. This study proposes the mechanism that finances the civic data layer, from a $5 million ignition round to $50 million by 2035. In collaboration with TrustAfrica.

Philanthropic capital flows to the African AI ecosystem.

The first sourced map of the philanthropic money entering Africa's AI ecosystem: which foundations fund the models, the language datasets, the labs and the policy work; who receives, what was announced versus what arrived, and where the proof is.
